Mishmi Hills Foundation Hawai, organized one day training for Bee Keeping on 10th January 2019 at Chengung Village. The training was attended by thirty families of Walla and Chengung village. The resource person for the training was Shri. Khogolum Pul,a progressive bee farmer from Walla Village. The resource person, along with theoretical knowledge of bee keeping also demonstrated the practical aspects of bee farming. The resource person also highlighted the medicinal values of honey. He encouraged the villagers to go for bee farming, as it would augment their family income. He viewed that, Anjaw district was most suitable for bee farming due to huge abundance of natural flowering plants which is one of the requisite for successful bee farming.
The co-trainer of the training was shri.Soflap pul, a progressive farmer who was awarded as best farmer during recent visit of Hon’ble Chief Minister Pema Khandu in Hayuliang.He also shared his success story of bee farming which he had started along with Kiwi garden. He echoed that, the quality and quantity of Kiwi fruiting had improved after he did bee keeping in his Kiwi garden.
The resource person viewed that bee farming was having good business potential which could be boosted by governments support. He also thanked Smt. Dasanglu Pul, Hon’ble MLA Hayuliang for sponsoring the training for bee keeping through MLALADS and opined that it would encourage the people of Anjaw district to start bee farming.
